What's it like to live in Ann Arbor?

Michigan Football Game

Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan, one of the finest public universities in America. That means it comes equipped with a vibrant, diverse population, great libraries and educational opportunities, and top-notch healthcare.

But Ann Arbor boasts even more than that. We know, because we — and our families — play as hard as we work. As you may have heard, we Googlers also tend to take food pretty seriously.

We've explored our new town, and here are the findings:

Whether you're a biker, pianist, guitarist, reader, film buff, artist, dancer, yogi, trivia buff, chef, pottery painter, runner, concertgoer, shopper, skier, hiker, bar-hopper, kayaker, tree-hugger, or basketball/volleyball/softball player, you’ll be able to find someplace nearby to perfect your skills. (And if you're looking for company, a group of Googlers is just an email away.)

Ann Arbor dining, we're happy to report, has also exceeded our expectations. In fact, we challenge you to walk a block around here without stumbling upon an eatery, or to find a cuisine Ann Arbor chefs don't serve.

Lastly, besides providing kids with terrific educational opportunities, Ann Arbor gives them big green fields to play in, trees to climb, museums to visit, books to read, choirs to join and language/art/dance classes to take.

As fun and delicious as Ann Arbor is, everyone craves a getaway once in awhile. Resorts and outdoor activities on Lake Michigan are just a few hours' drive. Looking for more of a big-city feel? Detroit's half an hour away, and Chicago is about four hours away by car, train, or bus.
